10/21 Journal Monday

Ciao.

Today was a Monday. A grey morning, of fog and a wet serenity that flowed into my nostrils rather quickly this morning. As we were in quite the sudden rush. We misunderstood as a group, our plans for the day and were hence delayed. However, the silver lining in this series of events was that the studio we planned to tour today we still got to tour. Not only was it absolutely incredible, but it was more incredible than I imagined. Here is a man, that has dedicated his life to art since childhood. What passion that requires! How can one simply just know that their calling in this life is so simple and centralized that they may dedicate their life in the field they were destined for. This wonderful gentleman who prides his privacy, is a very talented glass sculptor. Not only just sculptures of glass does he create, reflections of life and its charms and relics. The struggle and abrasive edges that is so associated with the lives we live. Glass tempered, is glass strong. Though we can see through its core, as we may cover its purity with lathered paint and gusto, when stricken it is strong. We must be the tempered glass we gaze in awe at. We must take pause to remember that we gaze into our own amazing layers, through our faults and confusion, sin and flaws like a window rather an a door. Glass makes a better window, than a door... rather just a bigger window with a hinge that is seemingly operable. When we fall, if we are bonded, if we stay folded tight with our beliefs and integrity we will not shatter.

When our hope is slim, and our weight is overcome and only used against us to drag us deeper faster, we can shatter so easily and once flawed never be the same. Though if we just take the time to burn down to our condensed roots and think about what makes us what we are; if we can just get back down to our most simple form we can be reblown. Rebuilt into a new masterpiece that wouldn't be so beautiful if we hadn't first been crumpled and broken, flawed and dropped. We are artwork. We have worth, we are colorful and unique. We are appreciated by those that travel to look and gaze upon us with curiosity open minds but open souls as well. We are artwork. We are appreciated.

Ciao.
