TUE OCT 28 Journal

Ciao,

I realize now that my last blog entry never completed.. that's annoying. Either way, today was a good day here at the villa. We woke up regular time today, with no traveling! It was a relaxing pace today, with no Italian work to do first thing in the morning, and no need to panic for a test :D We took wonderful shots of Corciano last night and I'm so glad we did so, because the sunsets were awesome. We also met our third and final professor for the semester, Dave Shumway. Dave is our photography professor, and what an awesome photographer he is! He's been all over the world, and the grandson of the National Geographic photographer. So it's almost legendary fate that he should be a professional photographer.

Today Tuesday, we had our first in-class photography session. We had a technical discussion about the three main principles of photography. ISO, aperture priority, and shutter priority. ISO is film speed, and the sensitivity of the film or the sensor on a digital camera. Aperture is the amount of light allowed to the sensor. Think of it like the diameter control of a garden hose. Shutter speed is how fast the picture is taken, it an be controlled and manipulated to add blur to long exposure shots of stars and also increased to stop the wings of a hummingbird. Taking this first lecture was very instructional and beneficial to me, because even though I had a rough idea of what it all meant it was really nice to get a confirmation.

Tonight we had a cooking competition! We competed to see who could make the best pizza. The first place winner took home two very fine bottles of wine! Italian wine to say the least, so of course its going to me awesome wine! Johnny John John, if you're reading this you should know that this wine was going to be your present like you requested, and what a wonderful selection it was! The unfortunate thing is that I will not be able to send it to you because I was informed that it will never pass customs. Even if I were to mail it to you it still wouldn't pass as I am not of legal age in the states. Even though you can die for our country you cannot drink to its joys. Too bad right! Well none the less it was to be dedicated to you, so remember this in spirit! To my other competitors cheers! We shall celebrate none the less to a wonderful competition in good fun. I'm glad to have been a part of this competition :D

Cheers to good times and memories folks!

Lots of love, Ciao!
